Events, incidents and assets can be lines on a spreadsheet, but they do not live in isolation, they relate to other objects and their surroundings. Plot them on a map, combine that with Google’s unique StreetView service, filter and sort them and you can see clusters in time and space. You can make connected decisions that benefit your business.
Situational Awareness for your Data
Use Satellite and StreetView to see the area around each data point. Investigate problems without a site visit, and relate your information to the local environment. Did that incident happen at a junction with poor visibility? Do you need to change your normal routes? Do you need to add something to your driver Training? Does the development project you are planning overlap with another? Will it divert traffic through quiet residential areas?
Route Drive
If you have vehicles travelling the same routes again and again, your drivers quickly get to know the issues and hazards. But what about the new driver, or the stand-in who doesn’t normally drive that route? Using StreetView and custom annotations, MapInsight can capture information from your experienced drivers and trainers and show other drivers what to watch out for.
Familiar Interface
MapInsight is designed to be powerful yet intuitive. We use Google Maps and Streetview because they provide the power and detail needed for effective geographic information, and they are a very familiar interface. Our map controls are the same as the public Google sites, so users don’t have a big learning curve to navigate our mapping.
Share Data With Your Team
Invite your colleagues to your MapInsight account, work as a group, comment on and share items from your maps. Having the same view of the same information makes for better decision making. Use MapInsight to add the spatial view to your shared data, draw your own shapes and markers to highlight areas of interest and build groups of data to present and share.
